This fish sleeps for years without food or water
A fish in African Protoperus annectens can live in animation called aestivation without taking food and water upto five years. They will wake up when water is available.
During the suspended animation they are inactive for more time. As they don’t take food and water no urine and waste is disposed. so that energy storage during the maintenance phase, and the dependence on internal energy store for repair and structural modification during the arousal phase.
This suspended animation made scientists facinated because of its great potentials in fields raging from medicine to space travel.
This also helps doctor surgeons for having more time to operate on patient during the critical moment when the blood circulation stops.
The scientists discovered that this fish at dry conditions or high temperature involves the up-and down regulations.
