Antidepressants cause a gene in the body called JNK to become over active. The JNK gene is the bottom line cause for weight gain and obesity whether an antidepressant is taken or not. Harvard scientist first discovered the JNK gene and the relationship it has on weight gain in 2002. Since then, drug companies have been scrambling to create a new weight loss drug and one drug has made it to Phase II clinical trials. Reducing the over activation of this gene is the answer for weight loss and has answered key questions for research scientists.
This is exciting news for anyone experiencing weight gain related to antidepressant drug use. There are natural supplements and diet changes that have been identified to help deactivate the JNK gene. Check out this site for tons of useful information on this subject.
